South Jakarta Administration to Revitalise Pasar Minggu for Integration

The South Jakarta City Administration (Pemkot Jaksel) is undertaking a revitalisation of Pasar Minggu market to ensure it is integrated and waste is properly managed for the comfort of the public. South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo stated that the focus of the review was the plan to integrate the market area with the designated small business location (lokbin), including waste management at the site. In addition to the market, the lokbin, which hosts micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), will also be revitalised. According to him, the arrangement of the lokbin needs to be carried out comprehensively and integrated with the market area so that the activities of traders and the shopping public become easier and more comfortable. “We are not only looking at it from the perspective of PD Pasar Jaya or the UMKM location separately, but the whole area must be integrated so that the activities of traders and buyers are easier,” he said. He noted that discussions with the market management regarding the revitalisation process have now reached the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) stage. He hopes that once the MoU process is complete, it can be immediately followed up with the preparation of a comprehensive revitalisation plan. Meanwhile, for the arrangement of the lokbin, Syafrin said his party will coordinate with the DKI Jakarta Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM). The arrangement will cover various activity zones, ranging from the wet market, dry market, culinary market, to the parking area. “The goal is for people visiting the lokbin to have a good and comfortable experience in terms of mobility. That way, residents will want to go directly into the market and no longer shop on the pavements currently occupied by street vendors,” he said.
