South Jakarta Administration Targets Completion of PHB Taman Alfa Indah Dredging by September
The South Jakarta City Administration (Pemkot Jaksel) is targeting completion of dredging works on the Taman Alfa Indah connecting water channel (PHB) in North Petukangan, Pesanggrahan, by September 2026.
“The dredging and maintenance of the Taman Alfa Indah PHB channel is scheduled to run from early April and is targeted for full completion by the end of September,” said Santo, Head of the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (Kasudin SDA), during a community clean-up activity in Pesanggrahan, Jakarta, on Sunday.
The dredging is expected to be completed by September in order to prevent standing water and flooding at the location.
He said the dredging is being carried out as one of the efforts to increase water flow capacity so as to reduce the potential for inundation during heavy rain.
“Hopefully this activity will be effective in addressing the problem of standing water in the area,” he said.
Meanwhile, he explained that the dredging of the Alfa Indah PHB channel is targeted to reach a total volume of 1,207 cubic metres from the West Jakarta boundary to Jalan Taman Alfa Indah.
“Current dredging progress has reached 656 cubic metres out of the total target of 1,207 cubic metres. To speed up the process, we have deployed heavy equipment consisting of two amphibious units, one spider unit, and 10 dump trucks,” he said.
Furthermore, to maximise the number of trips for transporting sediment and waste, the Water Resources Sub-agency is applying a transit system before disposal at the final disposal site in Ancol.
“The dredged material is temporarily transited at the Deplu Warehouse. If it were taken directly to Ancol, trucks could only manage one trip per day. With this transit system, transport efficiency increases to three to four trips per day,” he said.
