South Jakarta Administration Says Disabled-Friendly Park Development Awaits Asset User Designation

The South Jakarta City Government has stated that the plan to build a Disabled-Friendly Park on the former Taman Puring Market site in South Jakarta is still waiting for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to designate the asset user before the project can be realised. “We have to differentiate between recording and the user. Asset recording is with the Asset Agency, while the asset user will be handed over later. Well, we don’t have a record yet of who the user is,” said Head of the South Jakarta PPKUKM Sub-Department, Djaharuddin, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday. Djaharuddin explained that the land is already recorded as an asset of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. However, the determination of which agency will be the asset user is still in the administrative process. He explained that once the asset user is determined, an official handover report will be made from the Asset Agency to the designated regional apparatus organisation. “Everything is handled by the Provincial Government. The Asset Agency’s job is just recording. It will be handed over to the user. The user is the Parks Department. After that, it’s up to the Parks Department what they want to make,” he said. Regarding the plan to utilise the former Taman Puring Market site as a Disabled-Friendly Park, he confirmed that the proposal was submitted by the South Jakarta Mayor and has received approval from the DKI Jakarta Governor. However, he could not yet confirm when construction will begin, as it depends on the designated user agency and the source of funding to be used. Djaharuddin also confirmed that the former Taman Puring Market land is an asset belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. “It belongs to the Provincial Government. The certificate exists,” he said. Regarding the possibility of construction starting this year, he reiterated that implementation depends on the process of designating the asset user and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s policy regarding development funding.
