The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) is preparing two locations to build an official inter-city inter-province (AKAP) bus terminal in its area. “Certainly, development of a terminal will be carried out here. There are two alternative locations,” said South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo following an inspection at the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride facility on Tuesday. Syafrin stated that the two alternative locations being prepared are the Park and Ride area in Lebak Bulus and land owned by the DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Agency in the Pasar Jumat area. According to him, the terminal development is part of the spatial arrangement of the Lebak Bulus area, which currently serves as the starting station for the Jakarta MRT as well as a strategic transport hub in the capital city. Syafrin noted that one option being studied is the construction of a lay-by facility at the existing Park and Ride location. Additionally, the South Jakarta administration is also considering developing a terminal in the Pasar Jumat area. That location is planned to become a special AKAP terminal serving journeys to various regions on Java and Sumatra. “Or we will also develop it at the existing temporary terminal location in Pasar Jumat. So, a special terminal for AKAP can be built there,” he said. Syafrin said the presence of the terminal will provide an alternative departure point for South Jakarta residents wishing to travel out of town. “So that residents in the southern part of Jakarta who are heading out of Jakarta, whether to the eastern parts of Java or westwards to Sumatra, can all be properly facilitated,” he continued. He emphasised that the development of the Lebak Bulus area must be carried out in an integrated manner. Not only from the transport aspect, the development must also have integrated connectivity with the surrounding area. This integration aims to create smoother and more comfortable public mobility, both for residents living in the area and those who carry out activities there.
