South Jakarta Administration Prepares Two Sites for AKAP Bus Terminal Construction
The South Jakarta City Administration is preparing two locations to construct a dedicated terminal for intercity and interprovable (AKAP) transport within its jurisdiction.
“The terminal will certainly undergo development here. There are two alternative locations,” said the Mayor of South Jakarta, Syafrin Liputo, following an inspection at the Lebak Bulus ‘Park and Ride’ facility in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Syafrin stated that the two alternative sites being prepared are the passenger parking facility for vehicle owners near the Lebak Bulus station (park and ride) and land owned by the Jakarta Highways Agency in the Pasar Jumat area.
According to him, the terminal development is part of the urban planning for the Lebak Bulus area, which currently serves as the starting station for the Jakarta MRT and acts as a strategic transport hub in the capital.
Syafrin noted that one of the options under consideration is the construction of lay-by facilities at the existing park and ride location.
Additionally, the South Jakarta Administration is considering developing a terminal in the Pasar Jumat area. This location is planned to be a dedicated AKAP terminal serving journeys to various regions across Java and Sumatra.
“Alternatively, we will develop the existing temporary terminal in Pasar Jumat. A dedicated terminal for AKAP can be built there,” he said.
According to Syafrin, the presence of this terminal will serve as an alternative departure point for South Jakarta residents travelling out of the region.
“Thus, for residents in South Jakarta travelling outside Jakarta, whether towards the east of Java or west towards Sumatra, everything can be well-facilitated,” he continued.
He emphasised that the development of the Lebak Bulus area must be carried out in an integrated manner. Beyond transport, the development must also ensure connectivity with the surrounding area.
This integration aims to create smoother and more comfortable mobility for both residents living in the area and those conducting activities there.
