South Jakarta Administration Ensures Safe and Comfortable School Orientation Period

The South Jakarta City Administration has ensured that the implementation of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) in all schools is running safely, comfortably, and in accordance with applicable regulations.

“We have also reviewed that schools conducting MPLS must ensure the implementation is safe and comfortable for students,” said South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo to reporters in Jakarta on Friday.

He stated that the implementation of MPLS has been monitored through coordination with the Education Sub-department for Region I and II of South Jakarta. The monitoring results indicate that all schools are carrying out the activities according to the established rules.

“From the coordination results, the implementation of MPLS is all in accordance with the provisions,” said Syafrin.

He emphasised that schools must create a safe environment during the MPLS activities. “There is no bullying, no violence, and it is designed so that children feel comfortable and then learn, and they become the next generation, especially from South Jakarta, who have good character and become our future leaders,” Syafrin said.

The South Jakarta City Administration is also coordinating with the Education Sub-department to ensure that the implementation of MPLS in all schools prioritises safety, comfort, and character building from the first day students enter the school environment.

Based on the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Regulation Number 12 of 2026, MPLS takes place for five days during the first week of the new academic year. For the Jakarta region, according to the 2026/2027 academic calendar, MPLS 2026 is being held from 13 to 17 July.
