Hundreds of South Garut residents, organised under the Banjarwangi Singajaya Pendeuy Community Movement (Gempa BSP), stormed the Garut Regency DPRD building on Thursday (20/8/2026). They staged a demonstration because the Banjarwangi road has been left severely damaged and unrepaired for 11 years.

Gempa BSP chairman Alan Muhtar said the road access connecting Banjarwangi, Singajaya, and Cipendeuy District has suffered severe damage and has been neglected. He said the badly damaged road conditions have hampered community activities.

“Eleven years and it has not been repaired,” he said on Thursday (20/8/2026).

He said the damaged road access has paralysed the distribution of agricultural produce, cut off access for children going to school, and hindered medical evacuations for sick residents. Alan said the community is demanding a basic right: a proper road condition.
