Sound System Speaker Falls from Truck, Injures Mother and Toddler in Mojokerto
A mother and her toddler were injured after being struck by a falling middle speaker from a sound system truck in Mojokerto, East Java. The toddler required surgery as a result of the injuries sustained.
The incident took place during the Pakis Wetan Carnival sound system parade in Pakis Village, Mojokerto, on Sunday evening (21/6). Both victims were participating in the cultural procession, which was accompanied by nine sound system groups.
“The mother suffered a head injury, but it is not serious; an X-ray showed no major issues. Her child has undergone surgery at Dian Husada Hospital, and the condition has improved. God willing, they will be discharged this afternoon,” said the head of the Pakis Wetan Carnival committee, Inul, on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
The victims, 19-year-old Chelsea Amelia Putri and her 3-year-old toddler, are residents of Tawar Village. Both are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
During the parade, two middle speakers positioned at the top of the La Morena sound system truck fell. One of them struck Chelsea Amelia Putri and her toddler, identified by the initials AAP, residents of Tawar, Gondang, Mojokerto.
Trowulan Police Chief Commissioner Suwiji added that Chelsea and her child are currently being treated at Dian Husada Hospital in Sooko, Mojokerto. He stated that Chelsea suffered a forehead injury from being hit by the falling middle speaker.
“(The toddler AAP) had surgery on the little toe of the right foot. It was struck by the falling middle sound speaker,” he confirmed.
