Sort Waste at Jakarta's Anniversary, Win Tickets to Ancol and Dufan

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta is inviting members of the public attending the peak night of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary to participate in a waste sorting movement. The invitation was conveyed through the official Instagram account @dkijakarta, where residents can take part in the #JagaJakarta challenge by sorting waste during the event at the HI Roundabout on Saturday, 27 June 2026. As a form of appreciation, the organisers are providing prizes in the form of entry tickets to Ancol, Dufan, and Atlantis for participants who successfully complete the challenge. This programme is part of a major movement by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to change residents’ behaviour in managing waste, in line with Governor’s Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning the obligation to sort waste from its source. This movement is crucial given the waste emergency conditions in Jakarta. The Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site is already more than 86.4 per cent full. Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung is targeting to resolve the waste problem before Jakarta’s 500th anniversary in 2027. The Bantargebang site is nearly full, with a pile reaching 60 metres, and will only accept residual waste starting 1 August 2026. The governor’s instruction regulates the obligation of waste sorting, while also providing incentives in the form of facilities and infrastructure for community units that successfully achieve 100 per cent sorting. To ensure the programme’s success, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to providing supporting facilities such as organic and inorganic waste bins in various locations. Members of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives also reminded of the importance of executing three main pillars: socialisation, infrastructure, and incentives. With this challenge and attractive prizes, the provincial government hopes residents will not only celebrate Jakarta’s anniversary but also contribute to protecting the city’s environment.
