Sorong to receive more resettlers

SORONG, Irian Jaya: Eight resettlement locations in the regency are ready to take in a total of 7,450 families, which are to be resettled from various regions over the next two years.

The head of the local Ministry of Transmigration office, Benyamin Botto Tandipayuk, said that of the eight locations, the Waigo location at the Teminabuan district will receive the most resettlers, with 1,600 families.

Antara reported on Saturday that a total of 249,550 hectares of land in the districts of Klasaman, Salawati, Sorong, Seget, Salatwaki and several others are ready to be developed.

So far, four districts in the Sorong regency have already received 8,718 families, or 35,290 resettlers. (swe)
