Sorong (ANTARA) - Sorong Deputy Mayor Anshar Karim has invited the entire community to make the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday 1448 Hijriah a momentum to strengthen brotherhood, tolerance, and harmony in community life.

Anshar said the Prophet’s birthday commemoration should not merely be a ceremonial activity or annual routine, but must be understood as an opportunity to remember the struggle, exemplary conduct, and noble values taught by the Prophet Muhammad.

“Values such as honesty, compassion, brotherhood, justice, concern for others, and mutual respect are universal values that are very important in community life,” he said in his remarks at the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration in Sorong City on Tuesday.

He therefore invited the people of Sorong City to continue joining hands to strengthen brotherhood, respect differences, maintain harmony, and create a safe, peaceful, and harmonious environment.

“In community life and governance, these exemplary values are highly relevant for us to apply, such as honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, sincere service, and concern for the community,” he said.

He stressed that regional development cannot be carried out by the government alone, but requires the support, participation, and cooperation of all elements of society from various religious, ethnic, customary, and cultural backgrounds.

“With togetherness and the spirit of mutual cooperation, God willing, the various challenges we face can be resolved well,” he said.

He expressed hope that the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration would provide benefits and further strengthen brotherhood, tolerance, concern, and the spirit to provide benefits for the community and the progress of Sorong City.
