Sorong City Government Holds 2026 CSR Musrenbang to Strengthen Business Synergy

The Sorong City Government has officially launched the 2026 Corporate Social Responsibility Development Planning Forum (Musrenbang CSR). The event, opened by Sorong Mayor Septinus Lobat, aims to strengthen synergy between the local government and the business sector to support accelerated regional development. Taking place at the Lambert Jitmau Building, Sorong Mayor’s Office, Southwest Papua, on Sunday (28/6/2026), this forum serves as a strategic collaboration platform for state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD), and private companies. Its primary focus is aligning corporate social responsibility programmes with the development priorities set by the government. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor of Sorong Anshar Karim, Acting Regional Secretary Ruddy R. Laku, Chairperson of the Sorong City DPRK Ec. John Lewerissa, along with heads of regional apparatus organisations (OPD), district heads, and village chiefs throughout Sorong City. Head of the Sorong City Bappeda, Amos Kareth, explained that the 2026 CSR programme plan was compiled based on the results of Musrenbang at the village and district levels, which have been aligned with the Sorong City CSR Association. There are six priority sectors targeted: The community economic empowerment sector stands out as a top priority with 17 work programmes. Assistance is focused on business capital and MSME facilities for Indigenous Papuans (OAP), particularly in Klademak and Klasabi Villages, as well as the development of local material-based businesses for Papuan women. Mayor of Sorong, Septinus Lobat, asserted that the city’s development cannot rely solely on the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). The involvement of the business sector through well-planned CSR programmes is crucial to address regional challenges. ‘The implementation of this CSR Musrenbang is a momentum to align perceptions so that the programmes implemented are on target and provide direct benefits to the community,’ said Septinus. Several crucial issues are also expected to receive CSR support, ranging from the provision of clean water, slum area management, flood control, to strengthening security and public order. He emphasised that all policies must be based on accurate data to align with the vision of ‘Together Building an Advanced, Clean, Green, Safe, and Prosperous Sorong City’. Concluding his remarks, he expressed appreciation to all development partners, including the mass media, who continue to support sustainable partnerships for improving community welfare in Sorong City.
