Sony Unveils Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II Smart TVs with 'True RGB' Technology
Sony has unveiled its latest premium smart TVs, the Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II, for the global market. These models are Sony’s first to feature the new ‘True RGB’ backlight technology, which independently controls red, green, and blue LEDs to produce richer, more accurate colours than conventional LED TVs. The True RGB approach also delivers purer colours closer to the BT.2020 colour standard, commonly used in modern HDR formats like Dolby Vision. Sony claims the RGB LED technology enhances colour volume—the combination of saturation and brightness—while being more power-efficient, allowing higher brightness without significant power increases. The Bravia 9 II is available in 65, 75, 85, and a new 115-inch size, using VA-type LCD panels with wider viewing angles and a matte screen coating to reduce glare on the 65, 75, and 85-inch models. The Bravia 7 II comes in sizes ranging from 50 to 98 inches, using a simplified True RGB variant without the matte coating. Both models feature Google TV, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and dedicated PlayStation 5 support.
