Sony Sonjaya's Camp Reiterates 41 Names, Now Applies for JC to LPSK
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has rejected the justice collaborator (JC) application submitted by former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sonjaya in the alleged corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Sony’s lawyer expressed regret over the decision.
“We respect and appreciate the prosecutor’s decision. But it is deeply regrettable, at a time when our client wishes to reveal all parties suspected of having a major role in this MBG corruption circle,” said Sony’s lawyer, Krisna Murti, to reporters on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
Krisna again brought up the names which, according to him, have been conveyed to the Attorney General’s Office. He said his client had mentioned 41 names believed to have played a role in the MBG case.
“The first 26 names were mentioned, then it grew to 41 names. These are not just any names, meaning they are big names suspected of being very influential in the alleged corruption of selling kitchen points across Indonesia,” he explained.
He claimed Sony wants to voice the truth and hopes the case will be thoroughly investigated. “So, in our view, there ends up being no room for our client to voice the truth behind this MBG corruption circle,” Krisna stated.
Sony has also submitted a JC application through the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). Krisna said that family security is the main reason his party is seeking LPSK protection.
“We will continue to fight for Sony Sonjaya’s right to obtain JC and protection from LPSK. Considering there is no guarantee of security and safety for Sony or his family when testifying to reveal those 41 names,” Krisna said.
The application to LPSK has now been submitted. He said Sony’s wife and child have already been questioned. “Yesterday his wife and child were questioned, we accompanied them. In the near future, LPSK said they will visit Mr Sony,” he stated.
LPSK Chairman Achmadi confirmed that his agency has received the JC application from Sony Sonjaya’s side. He stated that the application is currently under review.
“Yes, someone has submitted an application to LPSK and it is still under review, that is the gist of it,” Achmadi said at Al Azhar University, South Jakarta.
He said the incoming application will be studied first. He mentioned that LPSK will also coordinate with other parties. “In principle, for applications submitted to LPSK, we will also examine the application and later coordinate further with related parties. What is clear is that we are still investigating the case,” he said.
Previously, the Attorney General’s Office had named six suspects. They are:
Former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana
Former Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sonjaya
Former Deputy Head of BGN Lodewyk Pusung
Asep Yusuf Somantri (AYS), a close associate of Sony
Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (PT YAT), the BGN electric motor provider, Andri Mulyono (AM).
Chair of the Indonesia Food Security Review (IFSR) Foundation Glory Harimas Sihombing.
Sony then submitted a JC application by naming individuals he believes have roles related to the MBG case. The Attorney General’s Office subsequently rejected Sony’s application based on several considerations.
