Jakarta – The Head of the Presidential Communication Office (Bakom RI), M Qodari, has spoken out regarding former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, who has submitted 26 names allegedly involved in corruption related to the management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). Qodari stated that his office respects the entire legal process concerning this MBG management corruption case. Regarding the names submitted, he mentioned that it is entirely the authority of the Attorney General’s Office to investigate. “From the Attorney General’s Office’s own explanation, there are two large groups of problems. First, the existence of unsuitable prices for the procurement of several goods. Second, the buying and selling of points,” Qodari told reporters on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. “Now, whether the names submitted fall into the first or second group must certainly be classified, and everything is with the Attorney General’s Office,” he continued. Qodari explained that mentioning these names does not directly prove their involvement in the corruption case. “And even if, for example, names are mentioned, of course, it all goes back to the legal process. Whether, for instance, the buying and selling of points really occurred, that certainly goes back to the legal process,” he said. Furthermore, Qodari emphasised that the government does not wish to speculate further regarding the submitted names. The government, he said, will await the official investigation results from the investigators. “So, the point is that we should just follow the legal process underway at the Attorney General’s Office patiently and properly,” he concluded. Previously, it was reported that Sony Sonjaya’s Legal Counsel, Elza Syarief, spoke about her client’s intention to disclose 20 names of high-ranking officials allegedly involved in the corruption case within the MBG management. Recently, a number of high-ranking names allegedly involved in the case circulated on social media. Responding to this, Elza stated she did not know for certain about these names because the matter remains Pro Justitia Confidential, or a legal secret. “I don’t know what is circulating exactly, because it is not 20 names. What is written is 26 and others, there are still many more. So, it is still Pro Justitia Confidential in nature,” Elza revealed when contacted on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.
