Sony Sonjaya remains silent after 9-hour questioning by Attorney General's Office
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, remained silent after being questioned by investigators at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General’s Office for approximately nine hours, in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme for 2025-2026.
Based on ANTARA’s monitoring at the Jampidsus Building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Thursday, Sony exited the building at 19.12 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Upon leaving, Sony, who was wearing a pink vest designated for Attorney General’s Office detainees, was escorted by officers towards a detention vehicle. When journalists asked about the day’s examination, he simply kept quiet and immediately entered the detention vehicle.
Sony had arrived at the Jampidsus Building to undergo questioning at 09.24 WIB. It is known that Jampidsus investigators have named five suspects in this case, namely: former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana; former BGN Deputy Head for Organisational Development and Institutional Relations, Lodewyk Pusung; former BGN Deputy Head for Nutritional Fulfilment Operations, Sony Sonjaya; private sector party Asep Yusuf Soemantri; and Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (YAT), Andri Mulyono.
Sony had previously volunteered to become a justice collaborator (JC) to assist in uncovering the case. The request was submitted through Krisna Murti to Jampidsus on Monday (8/6). Krisna stated that his client applied for justice collaborator status because he wishes to reveal the parties allegedly involved in the case, while also explaining his own role in the matter under investigation. According to Krisna, Sony believes he has been portrayed as the party responsible for selling the kitchen points of the Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), whereas in reality there was pressure and direction from other parties. “This means that all this time he has been cornered as the one who sold the kitchen points, the one who sold them, the one who manipulated those kitchens. Whereas according to Mr Sony, he was under pressure, there was attention,” Krisna revealed.
