Sony Sonjaya Allegedly Holds Over 20 Names Involved in BGN Corruption Case; DPR Dismisses Claims
Former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sonjaya is said to be holding more than 20 names of individuals allegedly involved in a suspected corruption case within the BGN. These names are reportedly located within both legislative and executive circles. Responding to this, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Muhammad Yahya Zaini has spoken out. Yahya assessed that the report came from an unclear source, opting not to comment further. “That is news with an unclear source. So there is no need to respond,” said Yahya when contacted on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. Previously, Sony’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, stated that his client would apply to become a justice collaborator, cooperating with law enforcement officials. In doing so, Sony will disclose to investigators more than 20 names suspected of involvement in the corruption case surrounding the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. “We are not avoiding the legal issue, but we want to reveal and cooperatively disclose anyone who is involved in this presidential flagship programme,” said Krisna at the Attorney General’s Office building in South Jakarta on Monday. Sony was named a suspect by the Attorney General’s Office alongside former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and former BGN Deputy Head Lodewyk Pusung on Wednesday. The three are suspected of committing criminal acts of corruption related to the buying and selling of Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) points, or MBG kitchens. After being named suspects, the three individuals were immediately detained by the Attorney General’s Office.
