Sony sets up Indian arm

BOMBAY (AFP): Japan's Sony Music is setting up a subsidiary company in India to manufacture audio and video cassettes and compact discs, The Economic Times reported Saturday.

The subsidiary, Sony Music India, would launch its first titles in March.

"Sony is the first international music major to set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in the country," the newspaper said, adding the subsidiary would be based in Bombay, India's commercial capital.
