Sony Brings Notebook to AGO Examination on MBG Corruption Justice Collaborator Bid
Kejaksaan Agung (AGO) examined former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya in the corruption case concerning the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme on Thursday (18/6). Sony’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, stated that the examination was also related to the justice collaborator (JC) application submitted to investigators. Sony arrived at the AGO’s Bundar Building in South Jakarta, descending from a detention vehicle around 09.30 WIB. He did not respond to any questions from journalists but was seen carrying a notebook and pen. Previously, after submitting the JC application, his lawyer Krisna Murti said Sony had named 26 individuals to investigators. Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, stated there are two determining factors for whether Sony’s JC application is accepted. The first factor is whether investigators still require evidence or testimony from Sony in this case. The second is to review the extent of JC status that can be granted to Sony, noting that this process still requires time. The AGO has named five suspects in the MBG programme governance corruption case for the 2025-2026 period. They are former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, former BGN Deputy Heads Sony Sonjaya and Lodewikus Pusung, Sony’s associate Asep Yusuf Somantri (AYS), and PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (YAT) Commissioner Andri Mulyono. Dadan, Sony, and Lodewikus were named suspects a day after being dismissed by President Prabowo Subianto from their BGN leadership positions. The AGO explained that the MBG programme was supposed to be managed by the Satuan Pelayanan dan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) foundation affiliated with recipient schools. However, in practice, many SPPGs were appointed due to their affiliations with BGN officials, and many foundations did not meet the requirements to become SPPG partners. Furthermore, there was mark-up of procurement prices, causing losses that did not support MBG operations, including 21,801 electric motorcycles worth IDR 1.03 trillion, 32,000 pairs of shoes, 31,994 tablets, and 5,400 units of 75-inch televisions.
