Song piracy

Song piracy

From Merdeka

Some Indonesian composers, seemingly lacking creativity, are
quite ready to copy popular foreign songs and change their lyrics
into Indonesian, like for example, Zombie was changed into Doli
(if I am not mistaken), and was sung by a newcomer. Also Made in
India sung by Indian singer Alishah was changed into Joget India,
and many more. This certainly violates all copyright laws.

I wonder what the motive for copying foreign songs could be,
perhaps the copier has to bow to the producer's demand, because
the producer projected big profit from the Indonesian-worded
song.

However, where is their nationalism and pride? Aren't song
composed by Indonesian artists, like Bengawan Solo or Widuri,
better?
