Son Who Killed Mother in Tangerang Selatan is Repeat Offender, Previously Jailed for Assaulting Sibling
Tangerang Selatan — A 36-year-old man identified as I, suspected of killing his mother K, 64, in Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, is a repeat offender. Pamulang Police Chief AKP Galuh Febri Saputra stated that the suspect had previously served time for assaulting a family member. ‘The suspect had previously served a three-year prison sentence for assaulting his own sibling,’ Galuh confirmed to Kompas.com via WhatsApp on Monday (25 May 2026). However, he committed another crime by killing his mother at her residence in Kedaung, Pamulang, on Tuesday (19 May 2026). The case came to light after police received a report of an elderly woman found dead with suspicious injuries. Upon arrival, officers found the victim had already died and her body had been washed by family members. However, police discovered several unusual injuries on the victim’s body. ‘The injuries on the victim’s body were likely caused by assault,’ he said. Police then conducted a crime scene investigation and interviewed witnesses in the area. The suspect was subsequently taken to Pamulang Police Station for further questioning. During initial questioning, the suspect denied killing his mother, but later confessed after further investigation. According to his confession, the murder occurred while the victim was asleep in her room at 12:30 AM WIB. The suspect allegedly pulled the victim’s leg to wake her, then repeatedly struck her head and body with his bare hands. The victim screamed for help, but the suspect pressed her neck with his foot and a chair to subdue her resistance,’ he explained. The motive is believed to be the suspect’s desire to seize the inherited house shared by the victim and himself. Police have seized evidence including an iron, sheets, blankets, CCTV footage, and crime scene documentation.
