The Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office has named RA, the child of former Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo and Kustini, as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption involving irregularities in the management of tourism grant funds in Sleman Regency in 2020. The same case previously ensnared Sri Purnomo, who was sentenced to six years in prison by the Yogyakarta Corruption Court. Head of the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office Bambang Yunianto stated on Monday evening that following the suspect’s designation, the prosecutor’s office immediately detained RA for the next 20 days. “Today, Monday, 22 June 2026, investigators from the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office have elevated the status of a witness and named them a suspect in the development of the case of alleged corruption in the management of tourism grant funds in Sleman Regency in 2020, namely a witness with the initials RA, who is a member of the Sleman Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 and 2024-2029 periods,” said Bambang Yunianto. He revealed that the case originated in 2020 when Sleman Regency received a grant of Rp68.553 billion from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance for handling the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. The grant was regulated under the Minister of Finance Regulation and a Decree of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. Through a series of investigations and inquiries, the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office’s investigative team discovered active actions by the suspect RA in the management of the tourism grant funds. “The suspect conditioned proposals from community groups as grant recipients, which were subsequently formalised through a Sleman Regent’s Decree,” he said. According to Bambang, the actions of the suspect RA, carried out together with the convicted defendant Sri Purnomo, resulted in state financial losses amounting to Rp10.952 billion. This figure is based on the State Financial Loss Calculation Audit Report from the BPKP Representative Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The suspect RA is charged with violating Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, and subsidiarily Article 604 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001. The suspect RA is now being detained for 20 days at the Class IIB Sleman Penitentiary. The prosecutor’s office affirmed its commitment to eradicating corruption in the Sleman Regency professionally, accountably, objectively, and transparently.
