Son Lux releases single 'Endlessly' and announces ninth album 'Out Into'

A visionary American trio, Son Lux, comprising Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia, and Ian Chang, has officially marked their return to the music industry. They have released their new single ‘Endlessly’ alongside the announcement of their ninth album, ‘Out Into’. The highly anticipated album is set for release on 18 September via label This Is Meru/City Slang. The single ‘Endlessly’ features a unique sonic character, offering a glimpse into the album’s musical direction, described as rhythmically vibrant and lyrically urgent. Over the past two decades, Son Lux has been known for their cinematic, grandiose sound. However, for ‘Out Into’, they have opted for a more intimate and raw approach, treating initial voice notes as sacred elements while preserving the purity of collective improvisation in each track. Ian Chang revealed that the album draws inspiration from the boom-bap hip-hop era, such as the works of J Dilla and Madlib. Amidst the rise of AI in music, Son Lux aims to highlight ‘human touch’ that is organic yet structured. The single ‘Endlessly’ is supported by renowned global marching band The Bluecoats. Ryan Lott explained that the album’s songs explore cycles of loss and self-discovery across various aspects of life, from relationships to work. ‘We step out of something and become something else. Every moment is both an exit and an entrance simultaneously,’ Lott said about the philosophy behind the album’s title ‘Out Into’. Prior to the album announcement, Son Lux had achieved significant success in cinema, earning two Oscar and two BAFTA nominations for their score in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. Their work has also featured in major films such as Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts’. Their popularity in the pop scene is undeniable, with their work sampled by top artists including Halsey, G-Eazy, and an exclusive collaboration with Lorde. Following the album’s release, Son Lux will embark on a global tour starting July 2026.
