The body of a man with the initials AN (47), suspected of being murdered by his children, was found in the forest of Kampung Baru, Dusun Aitiris B, Meotroi Village, Laenmanen District, Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Tuesday (12/5).

The three children allegedly involved in the murder include YDA (27), ADN (18), and AN (17). YDA is the stepson, while ADN and AN are the biological sons.

“The perpetrators are the victim’s stepson and biological sons. They have all been secured at the Malaka Police,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Malaka Police, Iptu Dominggus Duran, as quoted by Detik, Saturday (16/6).

Dominggus said the murder began when Antonius arrived from Malaysia on Tuesday (28/4). Upon arrival, he argued and uttered inappropriate words towards his wife, Leonarda Belak.

YDA was upset and reprimanded AN for this. After that, AN hit YDA, and they both engaged in a physical altercation. Afterwards, they dispersed, and AN left the house.

The following day, around 1:00 AM local time, AN returned home. Upon arrival, he had another argument with YDA.

During the fight, YDA threw a piece of wood at Antonius, hitting him in the neck, causing him to fall. As he fell, ADN also kicked AN, and they both continued to assault Antonius until he fainted.

Then, they carried Antonius’s body behind the house, about 500 meters away, to bury him.

“So they carried him together to the back of the house where there was a dry riverbed. They intended to bring a machete and crowbar to bury the victim,” said Dominggus.

However, when they arrived at the dry riverbed, YDA realized that his stepfather was still alive. He immediately took a machete and slit Antonius’s throat twice, killing him.

After confirming that Antonius was dead, the three sons dug a hole to bury him.

Subsequently, the case was revealed after residents conducted a search around the location.

Dominggus explained that in this case, YDA and ADN played a role in assaulting AN with wood and then hitting and kicking him until he fainted. In addition, YDA also slit Antonius’s throat while being carried to be buried.

Meanwhile, AN is suspected of helping his two older brothers by carrying Antonius together to be buried and digging the grave.

“That’s why the youngest son (AN) is charged with participating because he only helped dig the grave,” he said.

As a result of their actions, YDA and ADN have been named as suspects. They are charged under Article 458 Paragraph (1) and (2) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code, with a threat of 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, AN is still in the process of investigation. Currently, the police are coordinating with the Kupang Penitentiary for assistance.
