Some Users Report WhatsApp Experienced Disruption
Bandung (ANTARA) - A number of WhatsApp users reported experiencing disruptions on Saturday from late afternoon through the evening.
They said they were unable to send messages to WhatsApp groups or update their statuses. Their messages within groups were marked with a red exclamation mark, indicating that messages had failed to send, whilst those attempting to update their status were unable to do so, with only a spinning clock icon appearing.
"I couldn't update my status. It just kept spinning. Sending messages to groups was the same — they wouldn't go through," said Nikolas, a worker in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday evening.
The experience differed for Aden Bagus, an employee in Bandung, who said he did not notice any disruption when chatting or making calls on a personal basis. "I called my wife earlier and it was perfectly fine, and personal chats with friends went through smoothly. But the group chat was unusually quiet — that might have been during the disruption, though I wasn't aware of it at the time," Bagus said.
The issue was also felt by numerous other users, with hundreds observed sharing their complaints on the social media platform X.
At the time of writing, there had been no official confirmation from WhatsApp regarding the incident.
