JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT PAM Jaya has assured that some excavation points for clean water pipes on Jalan Peta Selatan, Kalideres, West Jakarta, currently closed to ensure smooth Eid homecoming traffic, will be reopened.

Senior Manager of Corporate & Customer Communication at PAM Jaya, Gatra Vaganza, stated that the closure of 14 excavation points during the Eid holiday is not permanent.

“Out of the 14 that were closed, some have indeed been permanently closed, but others will be reopened for work purposes, so they are only temporarily closed,” Gatra said when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

“So please understand, as the project is still in the construction phase, but for the Eid holiday period, they have been closed to ensure smooth public traffic flow,” Gatra added.

So far, the excavation work is targeted to be completed in April 2026.

Overall, there are 16 excavation points or pits along the clean water pipe project area in Kalideres.

Currently, 14 of them have been closed, while the remaining two points are left open.

“But the remaining two excavation points are not closed because they are deemed not to disrupt the road and traffic,” Gatra explained.

Meanwhile, Poyo (51), a Kalideres resident, expressed great relief that the severe traffic jams usually experienced have drastically reduced ahead of the Eid celebration.

He hopes the work can be expedited to completion without dragging on.

“I hope it gets fixed quickly. If they really need to work on it later and reopen, don’t take too long, finish it fast. And don’t have excavations too often. Don’t have them every end of the year,” he said.

The surface of the previously open excavation areas has now been covered with cement and asphalt, level with the main road.

Although there are still piles of soil on the roadside near the pavement, this does not hinder vehicle movement.
