Some Civil Servants in Karawang Regency Still Absent on First Day Back to Work
The attendance rate of civil servants (ASN) in Karawang Regency on the first day back to work after the Eid al-Fitr holiday was recorded at 95.14 per cent. Meanwhile, 4.89 per cent of employees were reported absent for various reasons.
The Head of the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) of Karawang Regency, Jajang Jaenudin, stated that the highest number of absences was due to annual leave, amounting to 3.75 per cent or around 300 people.
In addition, employees absent due to illness were recorded at 0.75 per cent, those outside state responsibility at 0.02 per cent, and those without explanation at 0.29 per cent or 24 people.
“Those present are 95.14 per cent, while those absent are 4.89 per cent. The majority are on leave, around 3.75 per cent or about 300 people,” said Jajang Jaenudin on Wednesday (25/3).
Regarding employees absent without explanation, the BKPSDM will conduct further investigations. Of the total 24 people, some will be confirmed to ascertain the reasons for their absence.
“Those without explanation are 0.29 per cent or 24 people. We will confirm this, whether they failed to report or truly have no reason. If proven to be absent without permission, there will be sanctions,” he emphasised.
Jajang added that the unexplained absences came from various work sectors and were not focused solely on public service areas.
On the other hand, regarding the discourse on implementing a work-from-home (WFH) system, it is still in the discussion stage and awaiting guidance from the central government. This policy is planned as one of the efficiency measures, particularly to reduce fuel oil (BBM) consumption.
“We are still preparing the scheme, including the possibility of rotational WFH. Even when working from home, attendance and work reporting must still be carried out,” he concluded.
