Some Banks Sell US Dollar at Rp18,300
The banking sector has further increased the selling price of the US Dollar following the continued weakening of the Rupiah. Pressure on the Rupiah exchange rate intensified during Thursday’s trading, with the national currency officially breaching the psychological level of Rp18,000/US$.
According to Refinitiv data, as of 09:11 WIB, the Rupiah weakened to the level of Rp18,015/US$, representing a depreciation of 0.42%. This position marks the latest all-time weakest level of the Indonesian currency against the greenback.
In response, banks have set US Dollar selling rates above Rp18,000, with some institutions reaching rates of Rp18,300.
