Solok (ANTARA) – The Solok Regency Government in West Sumatra has honoured 187 personnel from the Municipal Police and Fire and Rescue Service for their involvement in clearing debris after flash floods in Arosuka.

Solok Regent Jon Firman Pandu said on Saturday that the awards were a form of local government recognition for personnel involved in responding to the impact of the flash floods, particularly clearing debris in affected areas.

The flash floods that struck Arosuka affected the Solok Regency government office complex, requiring clean-up and response work to help restore government operations.

A total of 187 Municipal Police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel took part in the clean-up alongside other parties involved in the post-disaster response.

At the award presentation, the regent asked Solok Regency Municipal Police and Fire and Rescue Service chief Asril directly about the distribution of payments to all the personnel.

Asril said the payments had been handed to all personnel involved. However, the amounts received were not yet complete, and additional payments would be made at a later stage.

The regent thanked the Municipal Police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel, as well as everyone who had helped clear the flash-flood debris in Arosuka.

He said the involvement of various parties in the post-disaster response was important to supporting recovery in the affected area.

In addition to the clean-up, the local government is continuing its post-disaster response by drawing up rehabilitation and reconstruction plans.

The Solok Regency Government has submitted a Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Plan (R3P) to the central government as part of the recovery process following the flash floods.

The document forms part of post-disaster planning and sets out rehabilitation and reconstruction needs in the affected areas.

The regent expressed hope that recovery work would begin soon, allowing affected areas to gradually return to normal and residents to resume their daily activities.

“On behalf of the local government, we would like to thank everyone. Hopefully, Solok can recover soon,” Jon said.

The Solok Regency Government expressed its appreciation to all those who had helped with the post-disaster response and said it hoped their co-operation would continue to support the recovery of areas affected by the flash floods.
