A flash flood has struck the area surrounding the Solok Regent’s office complex in the Gunung Talang District. Several government offices have been impacted and sustained damage.

The flood occurred on Monday night (21/09/2026). The Regent of Solok, Jon Firman Pandu, stated that the affected offices include the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR), the Health Office, the Regional Financial Agency (BKD), the Department of Community and Village Empowerment (DPMN), Bapelitbang, and the Solok Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) area.

“The PUPR Department, Health, BKD, DPMN, Bapelitbang, including the DPRD, have been severely impacted,” said Jon Firman, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (22/09/2026).

According to Jon Firman, the force of the water flowing into the office area also affected several rooms and government facilities. A number of office equipments were swept away by the flash flood currents.

“Generally, it was due to the water. Office equipment was carried outside,” he said.

In addition to government facilities, the flash flood has also impacted several residents’ houses located around the Solok Regent’s office complex.

The Solok Regency Government, together with the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), Polri (National Police), and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), immediately carried out evacuations of residents whose homes were affected by the flood to anticipate worse conditions.

“We are also preparing temporary evacuation posts for residents whose homes have been damaged or affected by the flood,” said Jon Firman.

The local government is currently still conducting data collection on the number of houses, government facilities, and other public facilities affected by the flash flood. In addition to evacuations, a joint team has been deployed to clear debris brought by the currents into the Solok Regent’s office complex area.

Jon Firman urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious regarding the potential for follow-up floods that could hit several areas in Solok Regency. Residents are advised to evacuate immediately to safer locations if environmental conditions become dangerous and to follow the instructions of officers on the ground.

Furthermore, the public is requested to report immediately to the village (nagari) government, district authorities, or disaster management officers if they encounter emergency conditions or require assistance.
