Solok-Padang Road Access Severed Due to Flash Floods

The Solok-Padang road access in the Arosuka area, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, has been temporarily severed due to debris from a flash flood that struck the region on Monday night, 21 September 2026.

The Head of Traffic Unit for Solok Police, IPTU Akbar Kharisma, has urged drivers travelling from Solok to Padang and vice versa to temporarily use an alternative route via Padang Panjang.

“Due to the flash flood debris covering the Solok-Padang road, it cannot be passed for the time being,” he stated in Solok, West Sumatra, on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

He requested that motorists do not attempt to force their way through the flood-affected route to avoid the risk of accidents.

His unit, along with other personnel, is currently working to clear the flood debris covering the roadway to ensure the access can be used again.

Furthermore, according to reports from the Solok Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the flash flood hit the Arosuka Office Complex area on Monday at approximately 20:00 WIB.

A joint team consisting of the BPBD, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), the Solok Regency Fire Department, and local residents immediately carried out evacuation and rescue operations after the flood hit the area.

Joint officers are also managing several affected locations to mitigate risks to the public and road users.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and stay away from river flows and locations that could pose a danger while the disaster management process is underway.

The public is also requested to follow the instructions of officers on the ground, particularly regarding road access and usable routes during the debris clearance process.
