Solok City Government and BNN Launch Anti-Drug Curriculum in Schools
The Solok City Government in West Sumatra, together with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), has launched an integrated anti-drug curriculum for educational units to strengthen students’ resilience against narcotics abuse through early integrated learning.
Solok Mayor Ramadhani Kirana Putra expressed appreciation for the Solok City BNN and the Solok City Education Office for their collaboration in realising a joint anti-drug movement and mitigating drug abuse among students. He urged all school principals and teachers to implement the Integrasi Kurikulum Anti Narkoba (IKAN) in their respective schools and to protect students from drug abuse.
"We also entrust the children of Solok City to parents to ensure they remain drug-free," he said. The Mayor also advised all students to avoid drugs if they wish to succeed and announced plans to reactivate the rehabilitation centre for addicts at the Nan Balimo Community Health Centre.
The activity aims to integrate materials on the dangers of drugs into school subjects so that students gain an understanding of the hazards and develop self-resilience against drug abuse from an early age. Participants included all elementary and junior high school principals across Solok City, student representatives from junior high schools, and all students of SMP N 1 Solok. A representative from the West Sumatra Provincial Centre for Education Quality Assurance (BBPMP) also attended.
Head of Solok City BNN, M Febrian Jufril, committed to jointly protecting the nation’s future generations from the threat of drugs, one of the ways being through the integration of subjects with drug danger materials in educational units. He also showed appreciation to the Mayor of Solok by presenting a vest, followed by an ‘Ananda Bersinar’ talk show session as part of the new student orientation period, featuring a First Expert Drug Counsellor from Solok City BNN as a resource person and guided by a Solok City BNN Anti-Drug Ambassador, who is also a student of SMP Negeri 1 Solok.
