A referral letter belonging to former Formula 1 driver Rio Haryanto went viral after being uploaded by a staff member at a sub-district office (kelurahan) in Solo, Central Java. The officer, identified only as A, has since undergone a disciplinary hearing before the city’s Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM).

BKPSDM head Beni Supartono Putro said the hearing was conducted by an evaluation team comprising representatives from the BKPSDM, the Inspectorate, and the Legal Affairs division. Also present were the officer’s superiors, including the Penumping sub-district head and the head of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).

“Initially, a leadership session was held, and then the individual concerned was called in to provide a statement,” Beni said at his office on Thursday (19 February 2026).

Beni added that a decision on sanctions could not be made immediately. Following the disciplinary hearing, the matter will be referred to the regional secretary for a final ruling.

“We cannot convey the decision at this time because it will be determined at a subsequent hearing with the regional secretary, who will decide whether the punishment will be light, moderate, or severe,” he explained.

Beni outlined the range of possible sanctions. Light penalties include a verbal reprimand, a written reprimand, or a formal statement of dissatisfaction. Moderate penalties involve a five per cent salary reduction for periods of six or nine months. The most severe sanction is dismissal.

It was previously reported that the referral letter belonging to the former F1 driver had been posted on the officer’s social media story without any redaction of personal information.
