Solo Mayor Expresses Gratitude for President's Eid al-Adha Cattle Donation
Solo Mayor Respati Ardi officially handed over sacrificial cattle donated by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to the residents of Solo City. The ceremony took place at the courtyard of Masjid Agung Keraton Surakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, coinciding with Eid al-Adha 1447 H.
During the event, Respati expressed deep appreciation for the continuous attention from the central government towards Solo’s citizens.
“The extraordinary attention given to Solo City’s residents is not the first time that sacrificial cattle donations from the President and Vice President have reached Solo,” Respati stated during the symbolic handover.
The donation was received directly by Muhammad Muhtarom, Head of Takmir and Tafsir Anom Penghulu of Masjid Agung Keraton Surakarta. In addition to the President and Vice President’s contribution, the mosque also received sacrificial animals from Panembahan Agung Tedjowulan, the ruler of Surakarta Palace.
Beyond the religious ritual, Mayor Respati emphasised the importance of preserving the environment during the sacrificial process. He urged organisers to minimise the use of single-use plastics when distributing meat.
“It is advisable to use eco-friendly containers such as bamboo baskets and reduce single-use plastic bags. Slaughter waste must not pollute the environment,” he stressed.
The President’s donation is not limited to Solo City but is also distributed across other areas of Solo Raya, including Wonogiri Regency, Karanganyar Regency, Klaten Regency, Sragen Regency, Sukoharjo Regency, and Boyolali Regency. In Karanganyar, a 1,103-kilogram bull donated by the President was handed over to Masjid Baabussalam on the same day. The Solo City Government hopes this Eid al-Adha occasion will strengthen the spirit of sharing and enhance environmental awareness among the community.
