The Solo City Government has revealed the cause of flooding that inundated nine neighbourhoods. One of the factors is the absence of embankments or slopes along the course of the Jenes River. Solo’s Regional Secretary, Budi Murtono, stated that houses located along the Jenes River were impacted by the flood due to the lack of slopes. One of the affected areas is RT 03 RW 15, Tipes, Serengan. “Yes, there are still areas along the Jenes River that have not been embanked, without slopes, and they are all generally affected by flooding,” he said, as quoted by detikJateng in Tipes, Serengan, on Wednesday (15/4/2026). According to data from the Solo City Regional Disaster Management Agency, nine neighbourhoods were affected, namely Pajang, Kratonan, Joyosuran, Tipes, Bumi, Joyontakan, Panularan, Sondakan, and Laweyan. Budi Murtono said that for now, the flooding in Solo City has begun to subside. “Yes, it was quite high, last night some were up to the knees, some up to the chest. It’s already (subsiding) almost across the board. This was originally due to the high water intensity last night. Now that it’s starting to drop, it’s subsiding, but we have to anticipate the coming days,” he explained. His side will also communicate with the Bengawan Solo River Basin Centre for the continuation of flood handling from that river’s tributaries.
