Solidarity for Five Journalists Who Lost Contact: Press Members Hold Joint Prayer

Journalists from various organisations, including PFI, PWI, and IJTI, together with the Depok Police and the Depok City Government, held a joint prayer session at Depok Open Space, Depok, West Java, on Thursday (10/09/202<0xA0>26).

The joint prayer was organised as a form of solidarity and concern among press members, praying that the five journalists who lost contact while covering the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau would be found safe and sound.

Participants bowed their heads and joined in prayer for the safety of the journalists who have yet to be found. The prayer serves as a way for colleagues to provide support amidst the ongoing search process.

The General Chairperson of PFI Central, Dwi Pambudo, delivered a speech during the event. The presence of various press organisations in the prayer session demonstrates cross-organisational support for journalists facing emergency situations. This solidarity also serves as an important reminder of the necessity of safety when performing journalistic duties in the field.

Participants also continued their prayers for the families of the journalists who are still awaiting news. The uncertainty during the search process remains a significant burden for families hoping for information regarding the whereabouts of their loved ones.

The joint prayer concluded with hopes that the search process would proceed smoothly and yield the best possible results. While SAR teams continue to work in the field, the moral support from fellow members of the press serves as a source of strength for the families and colleagues still waiting.
