Solidarity and Festivity of Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers at the 'Jaga Jakarta' National Gathering
A warm and friendly atmosphere marked the ‘Jaga Jakarta’ National Gathering, which brought together hundreds of online motorcycle taxi drivers within the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya. Through various activities, the ojol partners reaffirmed their commitment to working together to maintain stability and security in the capital.
Hundreds of online motorcycle taxi drivers demonstrated remarkable solidarity and festivity while attending the event held at Polda Metro Jaya on Saturday morning. The gathering was used by the drivers and the police to strengthen their partnership in order to create comfort and safety on the roads.
Participants took part in various activities, ranging from a decorated motorcycle parade to inter-community competitions. In addition, participants were also provided with free vehicle inspection facilities and health services.
One participant, Supriyanto, an online motorcycle taxi driver from North Jakarta, said he was pleased to be directly involved in the activity. According to him, the National Gathering provided a space to strengthen togetherness while building closer ties between the community and the police.
“I am Supriyanto from North Jakarta. I am grateful to be able to take part in the activity organised by Polda Metro Jaya,” said Supriyanto.
During the event, Supriyanto took part in the decorated motorcycle parade and a tug-of-war competition. Although he did not manage to win, he still enjoyed the atmosphere and the solidarity built among the participants.
“Even though we lost, we remain enthusiastic and support the National Police. Ojol Kamtibmas, Jaga Jakarta. Bravo!” said Supriyanto.
Deputy Chief of Polda Metro Jaya Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono, representing the Chief of Polda Metro Jaya, said in his remarks that the ojol community plays an important role in the lives of Jakarta residents. Online motorcycle taxi drivers are on the roads every day and interact directly with the public, giving them a strategic role in maintaining order and awareness in their surroundings.
“The online motorcycle taxi community is not only part of Jakarta’s mobility, but can also become a pioneer of safety, order, and exemplary conduct in maintaining harmony within society,” said Dekananto.
Dekananto stressed that the National Police cannot work alone in maintaining security and order in Jakarta. Therefore, synergy with the ojol community must continue to be built through communication, education, and concern manifested in concrete actions.
“Togetherness is a great strength. Not merely because of the number of members or the size of the community, but because of the solidarity and concern built together,” he added.
