Solidarity Action for Andrie Yunus in Front of the Palace: Here Are His Five Demands
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A civil society coalition conveyed five demands regarding the acid attack case on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus during the 902nd Kamisan action in front of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026).
The coalition comprised various organisations such as KontraS, Imparsial, Perempuan Mahardika, LBH Jakarta, YLBHI, PBHI Nasional, and others.
In a statement read by criminology academic from Universitas Indonesia, Mamik Sri Supatmi, the coalition urged the state to immediately form an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to investigate the case.
“The state must promptly establish an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) involving civil society, free from conflicts of interest,” said Mamik during the Kamisan action in front of Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.
“All perpetrators must be tried through the general courts in accordance with the legal construction of attempted premeditated murder, not serious assault,” she explained.
Thirdly, the coalition requested that the state guarantee protection and recovery for the victim, family, witnesses, and companions in the Andrie Yunus case.
Furthermore, they encouraged Komnas HAM to conduct an independent investigation into the case.
“Komnas HAM must immediately carry out an independent investigation into this case, including tracing its connections to patterns of systematic terror against human rights defenders,” said Mamik.
“The Attorney General must form an ad hoc Investigation Team to follow up on the serious human rights violation file because the Andrie case stems from impunity that has been allowed,” she stated.
For context, Deputy Coordinator of Kontras, Andrie Yunus, was doused with acid in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
As a result, Andrie suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands.
From the investigation results, the perpetrators are TNI members with initials Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.
“The four alleged perpetrators are from the TNI’s Denma Bais,” said TNI Deputy Chief of Staff for Military Police, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Nevertheless, Yusri has not announced the roles and motives behind the acid attack on the activist.
“So we are still delving into the motive,” he emphasised.
