Solemn Melasti Procession Held in Tambora Ahead of Nyepi
Dozens of Hindu residents participated in a melasti procession at Pura Segara Pantai Labuhan Kananga, Tambora District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The series of events ahead of Nyepi Day took place solemnly.
“The Hindu community residing in Tambora held the melasti ceremony,” said Tambora District Police Chief, Iptu Suhadaak, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
Suhadaak stated that several police personnel also secured the melasti procession in the area surrounding the temple. According to him, the melasti procession attended by the Hindu community in Tambora proceeded safely and smoothly.
“We ensure that all members of the community are able to carry out religious activities in accordance with the beliefs and faith of their respective communities,” he added.
Suhadaak said the Hindu residents have long resided and been domiciled in Tambora District. Most of them work as farmers. According to him, the Hindu community in Tambora regularly conducts religious activities like other religious communities.
“The Hindu community here has been here for a long time. They live harmoniously and peacefully alongside Muslim and Christian communities,” he concluded.
