A total of 1,177 young officers from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) were officially commissioned by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace this morning. The 2026 TNI Officer Pledge Ceremony (Praspa) and Polri Officer Commissioning proceeded with solemnity. The cohort comprised 512 graduates from the Military Academy (Akmil), 229 from the Naval Academy (AAL), 154 from the Air Force Academy (AAU), and 282 from the Police Academy (Akpol). This year’s commissioning was also a historic moment for the Police Academy family, as 282 Akpol cadets officially assumed the rank of Second Police Inspector (Ipda) and became young Polri officers. They are also juniors of the Police Academy’s 2000 graduating class, Battalion Sanika Satyawada, whose alumni now hold various strategic positions within the Polri and are ready to continue the baton of service to the community, nation, and state. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the service chiefs of staff, MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani, Head of the Polri Education and Training Institute Commissioner General Ridwan Zulkarnain Panca Putra Simanjuntak, state officials, defence and police attachés from friendly nations, and the families of the commissioned officers. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold E.P. Hutagalung stated that his personnel, together with the Metro Jaya Regional Police, the TNI, the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres), and related agencies, provided maximum security to ensure the entire event proceeded safely, orderly, and smoothly. In his address, President Prabowo stressed that the commissioning was not merely a ceremony but the beginning of service to the nation and state. ‘You have sworn to, if necessary, give your body and soul for the nation, state, and people of Indonesia,’ Prabowo said. He noted that their initial rank is not only an honour but also a mandate and the people’s trust. Prabowo explained that the rank signifies that their entire lives have been surrendered for service to the country. ‘From this day forward, you no longer belong to yourselves. From this day forward, you truly no longer belong to your families; you now belong to the nation and state,’ he stated.
