Soldier Dies After Being Shot by Colleague in Palembang Cafe

As reported by detikSumbagsel on Sunday (17/5/2026), the shooting took place at a cafe in IB I district, Palembang, on Saturday (16/5) at around 02:40 WIB. The head of the IB I Palembang Police Precinct, Kompol Fauzi Saleh, confirmed the incident.

“It’s true that there was an altercation last night at Panhead Cafe, and one person died,” said Fauzi to reporters on Saturday (16/5).

Police suspect the altercation occurred due to a misunderstanding between the victim and the perpetrator while they were dancing at the cafe, which then escalated into an argument and a fight.

During the situation, the perpetrator allegedly took out a firearm he was carrying and fired one shot towards the victim. The victim was rushed to Permata Palembang Hospital for medical treatment, but died after suffering a gunshot wound to the right side of his abdomen.

After the incident, the IB I Palembang Police Precinct together with the crime scene investigation team from the Palembang City Police conducted a crime scene investigation, examined witnesses and coordinated with the Indonesian Army Military Police (Pom TNI AD) in Palembang.

The case is currently being handled and investigated by the Pom TNI AD in Palembang.
