Sergeant Mochamad Nasir, a TNI soldier implicated in the murder of Bank Branch Manager M. Ilham Pradipta, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison by the panel of judges. This sentence is one year heavier than the prosecution’s demand, as the judges deemed the defendant’s actions to be particularly heinous.

The judge’s assessment was detailed in the aggravating factors presented by the presiding judge, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, during the verdict hearing at Military Court II-0B Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6/2026). The aggravating factors included the loss of human life, the violation of the TNI’s code of ethics (Sapta Marga, Sumpah Prajurit, and 8 Wajib TNI), and the damage caused to the reputation of the Indonesian Army (TNI AD).

The court noted that the defendants acted with intent and awareness, leaving the victim helpless and allowing him to suffer for hours in a vehicle before being abandoned in a rural area. Furthermore, the victim’s family refused to grant forgiveness, seeking a punishment commensurate with the crime.

Conversely, mitigating factors included the defendants’ honesty during the trial, their expression of remorse, and their clean prior criminal records.

The court found that Defendant I, Nasir, was proven to have committed murder in concert with others, while Defendants II (Feri Herianto) and III (Frengky Yaru) were found guilty of kidnapping. The judge highlighted that Nasir, as a senior soldier trained in military skills, abused his expertise to facilitate the crime. Nasir was found to have accepted a bribe of Rp 5 million to participate in the kidnapping and subsequently assaulted the victim during transport from Central Jakarta to Bekasi.

The final sentences are as follows:

  1. Sergeant Mochamad Nasir: 13 years in prison, dishonourable discharge, and restitution of Rp 750 million to the victim’s family.

  2. Corporal Feri Herianto: 7 years in prison, dishonourable discharge, and restitution of Rp 500 million to the victim’s family.

  3. Sergeant Frengky Yaru: 1 year in prison.

The judges concluded that the actions of the defendants were contrary to the spirit of the TNI and undermined the institution’s efforts to maintain its image and existence within the Republic of Indonesia.
