Soldier arrested for selling drugs

JAKARTA: Plainclothes police officers arrested on Tuesday night a soldier attached to the Jakarta Military Command while he tried to sell 40 grams of heroin and 15 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) at a housing complex in Pinang Ranti, East Jakarta.

Besides the drugs, the police also confiscated a digital weighing scales from the soldier, who was identified as Second Sgt. Bachtiar.

Jakarta Military Command spokesman Lt. Col. Apang Sopandi confirmed the incident, saying that his office was considering dishonorably discharging the soldier. -- JP
