Softball team play Aussie friendlies
JAKARTA: The national men's softball team will conclude their friendly matches in Perth on Saturday as it prepares for next month's Southeast Asian (SEA) Games next month.
"Our team play four Australian clubs until Saturday to test the physical and technical abilities from the training session in Jakarta," Indonesian Baseball and Softball Association executive chairman Gugun Yunidar was quoted by Antara news service as saying on Wednesday.
The team participated in an international softball tournament in Perth on Oct. 8-Oct. 9, finishing seventh.
The national squad triumphed in Jakarta in 1997, the last time men's softball was included in the regional multisports event. However, the Philippines are now considered the favorite for the SEA Games title. -- JP
