Soetta CCTV Captures Pilot Smuggling Ecstasy and Deceiving Officers

The narcotics smuggling case involving a Malaysian pilot with the initials MSO was clearly recorded by CCTV at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The CCTV footage was uploaded by the official Instagram account of Soekarno-Hatta Customs on Monday (4/8/2026). The recording shows the suspected pilot, still wearing a white uniform, walking alone in the arrival area of Terminal 3 International. Near the conveyor belt or baggage claim area, he is seen taking a silver suitcase and carrying it along with a black handbag. Soekarno-Hatta Customs explained that MSO had completed the Custom Declaration (CD) process via the All Indonesia website, after which a Risk Assessment Officer (RAO) assigned a lane. The pilot was initially directed to the special crew lane (fast track). However, Customs officers continued to conduct risk-based analysis surveillance on the movements and profile of the suspect. Based on the analysis, officers then directed the suspect to undergo further inspection of his luggage, as seen in the video. After the large suitcase was examined using an X-ray scanner, several officers conducted a detailed inspection. During the examination process, officers were seen removing items from the suitcase, including piles of clothing believed to have been used to conceal the narcotics packages. Customs officers subsequently discovered several large packages of narcotics. In addition to the drugs, officers also displayed a bottle containing urine, which the suspect allegedly prepared to anticipate random urine tests from the airline or aviation authorities. Soekarno-Hatta Customs officers stated they became suspicious of the pilot’s suitcase contents when it was examined using the X-ray scanner. During this follow-up inspection, Customs successfully secured 14 packages of ecstasy hidden under piles of clothing inside the suitcase. Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Type C Customs Main Service Office (KPU), Hengky Tomuan Parlindungan Aritonang, stated that the total evidence seized by officers amounted to 70,114 ecstasy pills with a net weight of 25,194.83 grammes, or approximately 25 kilogrammes. Besides the ecstasy, officers also found one package of methamphetamine (shabu) among the suspect’s personal belongings. ‘In addition to the 14 packages of ecstasy, he also carried 4 grammes of methamphetamine. This methamphetamine was found among his personal items,’ Hengky said during a press conference at Soekarno-Hatta Customs on Friday (31/7/2026).
