Soeripto gets anti-graft award

JAKARTA: The Prosperous Justice Party's (PKS) East Java
chapter handed over on Monday its anticorruption award to
Soeripto, a former senior government official during Abdurrahman
Wahid's administration.

Soeripto was not the only person who was feted. The party's
chapter also bestowed the award on three other party members,
Riyadh Rosyad, Achmad Subchan and Thobroni.

Soeripto, the former Secretary General at the Ministry of
Forestry, was chosen to receive the award for his work to fight
against corruption in the forests.

He most notably ordered the corruption investigation into
timber tycoon Muhammad "Bob" Hasan's activities.

Bob was eventually sentenced to six years in Nusakambangan
