Soenarno named acting transportation minister

JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri appointed on Tuesday Minister of Settlements and Regional Infrastructure Soenarno as the acting minister of transportation to replace Agum Gumelar.

Soenarno's appointment was announced by State Secretary Bambang Kesowo on Tuesday.

On Monday, President Megawati Soekarnoputri accepted the resignation of Agum, who has decided to run as Hamzah Haz's running mate in the July 5 presidential election. --Antara
