Soekarno-Hatta Ranks 22nd Among World's Best Airports, Ngurah Rai 67th
Two of Indonesia’s main airports, Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) in Cengkareng and I Gusti Ngurah Rai in Bali, have recorded an increase in ranking in the World’s Top 100 Airports 2026 list according to Skytrax.
This was announced at the World Airport Awards in London on 18 March 2026 local time. Soetta Airport rose to 22nd place worldwide from 25th the previous year. Meanwhile, Ngurah Rai Airport jumped from 72nd to 67th worldwide.
InJourney Airports CEO Mohammad R. Pahlevi said this achievement reflects significant progress amid global competition in the aviation industry.
“This achievement for Indonesia’s two busiest airports is inseparable from the transformation programme we have been running since 2024 to serve wholeheartedly and provide global-standard services,” he said in an official statement on Thursday, 19 March 2026.
The transformation includes improvements to infrastructure and facilities, strengthening collaboration among stakeholders, and enhancing the quality of human resources services to deliver a world-class travel experience.
A positive trend has also been seen over the past three years. Soekarno-Hatta Airport rose from 28th in 2024 to 25th in 2025 and now to 22nd worldwide. Meanwhile, Ngurah Rai improved from 74th in 2024 to 72nd in 2025 and now to 67th.
InJourney Airports Deputy CEO Achmad Syahir said this increase shows the consistency of service improvements that are on the right track.
“This transformation strengthens a customer-centric culture so that services become more proactive and predictive,” he said.
At Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the results of the transformation include the beautification of Terminal 3, the inauguration of the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal 2F by President Prabowo Subianto, and the reactivation of Terminal 1C, which now has a new look blending modern elements with traditional Indonesian touches.
Meanwhile, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, facility optimisation, road access expansion, addition of water garden facilities, and the operation of an aesthetic and grand pedestrian bridge building (JPO) to connect the terminal with the vehicle parking area have been carried out. The JPO area also features a very comfortable pick-up point.
Other Awards
In addition to entering the world’s best ranks, Soekarno-Hatta Airport also won several other awards. This airport rose to 8th best in Asia from 9th previously.
Meanwhile, in the Best Airport 2026: 60 to 70 Million Passengers list, the airport stands at 2nd place from 3rd previously. Soekarno-Hatta Airport also made the Top 10 in each for the Best Airport Staff in Asia 2026 and World’s Best Immigration Service 2026 categories.
Through the airport transformation, InJourney Airports targets Soekarno-Hatta Airport to be in the world’s top 10 by 2029. In the same year, Soekarno-Hatta Airport and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport are targeted to achieve Airport Council International Customer Experience Accreditation Level 5.
