Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train Evacuation Still Underway as Poris Traffic Gridlocked
A truck collision with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport train at the Poris Station level crossing in Batuceper District, Tangerang City, has caused severe traffic congestion. Evacuation of the train and truck trailer is still underway.
Tangerang City Metro Police Chief Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari said that as of 10.11am Western Indonesian Time, the evacuation process at the scene was still ongoing. The airport train was reportedly carrying passengers at the time, but all were unharmed.
“There were only a small number of passengers. They were evacuated and continued their journeys using ride-hailing services and other public transport to reach their destinations, including those heading to Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” Jauhari said on Friday (20 February 2026).
The incident brought airport train services to a halt and completely paralysed road access around the crossing point. The body of the truck trailer that was struck reportedly remains lodged on the tracks, obstructing both the railway line and motor vehicle access.
Authorities on the ground are currently focused on towing the truck trailer body so that the railway line can be cleared and normal operations resumed.
A joint team of officers remains at the scene to carry out the physical evacuation of the truck trailer. Police confirmed that areas beyond the immediate crossing point are being monitored and remain under control thanks to swiftly implemented traffic management measures.
“The evacuation now only requires towing the vehicle body that was hit, as it remains positioned on the tracks and is disrupting railway crossing operations,” the district police chief added.
The public has been urged to use alternative routes that have been made available to avoid congestion in the Batuceper area until the evacuation process is fully completed.
Traffic Diversions
To ease congestion, police have implemented traffic management measures at several points intersecting with Jalan Maulana Hasanudin. Jauhari emphasised that the gridlock is concentrated solely at the Poris crossing point and has not affected toll road routes or the road to the airport.
The following traffic diversions have been put in place:
- From Jakarta (Jl. Daan Mogot) towards Cipondoh: Diverted at the Ampera junction, directed via Jl. Jenderal Sudirman towards Jl. KH Hasyim Ashari.
