General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Heru Karyadi, in Tangerang on Monday, stated that the achievement of over 13 million passengers in the first quarter experienced an increase compared to the same period last year, which reached 12,783,331 passengers. “Throughout the first three months of this year, the number of departing passengers was recorded at 6.73 million, and arriving passengers at 6.76 million,” he explained. Heru said the total aircraft movements also booked an increase of 6.8%, from 86,777 flights to 92,710 aircraft flights. According to him, this traffic increase aligns with the growth in air travel demand in the early year period. “This increase in air traffic is in line with the growing demand for flights during the Christmas and New Year holiday period in January 2026, as well as Eid transportation in March 2026. We, together with all airport stakeholders, continue to ensure operations run optimally to accommodate flight needs,” he stated. He mentioned that the favourite flight routes in the first three months of this year are still dominated by major domestic routes, such as Jakarta-Denpasar, Jakarta-Kualanamu, and Jakarta-Surabaya. Meanwhile, for international routes, flight traffic is dominated by Jakarta-Singapore, Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta-Jeddah, reflecting high societal mobility for business needs, tourism, or pilgrimage travel. “This increase in the number of passengers and aircraft movements is also supported by airport operational optimisation and close collaboration with all stakeholders, including airlines and other work partners,” he explained. Heru added that Soekarno-Hatta Airport continues to commit to improving service quality and strengthening operational reliability to provide the best experience for service users. “In Q2/2026, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will focus on services for prospective Hajj pilgrims during the Hajj transportation period, as well as services during the school holiday period,” he said.
