Soekarno-Hatta Airport Ranks 22nd in the World's Best Airports
LONDON, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s aviation landscape has officially elevated its status in the World’s Top 100 Airports list. The prestigious World Airport Awards 2026, held by Skytrax in London (18/3/2026), placed Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 22nd in the world. Not alone, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport also surged five places to 67th globally. What is making the world take notice of Indonesia’s air connectivity infrastructure? InJourney Airports’ CEO, Mohammad R. Pahlevi, emphasised that this accomplishment is the result of a massive transformation initiated in 2024. This strategy targets three main pillars: Premises (facilities), Process (system collaboration), and People (personnel service standards). At Soekarno-Hatta Airport, physical changes are visibly evident. Several key points have boosted global passenger ratings. Among them, Terminal 1C now features a fresh look blending modern design with traditional Indonesian touches. Then there is the beautification of Terminal 3, making the area more aesthetic and comfortable for travellers. Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has optimised road access, added water gardens, and constructed a grand pedestrian bridge connecting the terminal to the parking area aesthetically. Beyond the overall ranking, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also recorded specific achievements worth applauding. The airport has entered the world’s top 10 for the World’s Best Immigration Service 2026 and Best Airport Staff in Asia 2026. They evaluated the entire journey experience, from check-in processes and staff friendliness to security at departure gates. With the transformation direction already on the right track, the company has set an ambitious target to propel Soekarno-Hatta Airport into the world’s top 10 by 2029. This ambition is accompanied by a goal to achieve Airport Council International Customer Experience Accreditation Level 5.
